Gateshead Improve Wellbeing Board

Gateshead Improve Wellbeing Board reports to the Children and Young People’s Partnership. Its operation is governed by section 10 of the Children Act which places a duty on relevant partners to co-operate to improve the well-being of children and young people. Relevant partners are the Local Authority, Police Authority, Probation, Youth Offending Team, Strategic Health Authority, Primary Care Trust, Connexions and the Learning and Skills Council.

The role of the Board is to:

  • Manage the delivery of the Children and Young People’s Plan and Children and Young People’s block of the Local Area Agreement
  • Engage partners not named in the duty to co-operate
  • Setting the priorities and principles of joint commissioning
  • Delegate responsibilities to other groups as appropriate
